  • Learning the principles of the exercises will give every trainer and practitioner an opportunity to learn, practice, and use the exercises and routines to assist, mentor, coach, and guide clients through their journey to be pain free.

  • The intent of an exercise is very important to understand when choosing the correct sequence for a client. Each exercise has a very specific objective and is crucial for the correct placement within the sequence. When learning the phases of the Symmetry program, each exercise type is usually associated with a phase to address the appropriate needs. There are three (3) types of exercises used in the Symmetry system: Passive, Corrective and Strength.

  • The main goal of writing a corrective exercise routine is to progressively ramp a client to the point of standing. With this in mind, we are taking into consideration the number of levers used from start to finish, the goal is to tie the levers neurologically and coordinate them so that the brain can understand how to re-pattern one’s alignment for a long-term hold. The following list of positions from least number of levers to the largest is necessary to understand and ramp a routine properly:

    1. Lying – A supine position

    2. Prone – A face-down position

    3. Elbows and Knees

    4. Hands and Knees

    5. Sitting-Floor

    6. Sitting- Buddha’s Pose

    7. Kneeling

    8. Sitting

    9. Standing

  • The following list describes what to expect and how to handle EACH EXERCISE based on each factor, which play a key role in the achieving the overall results/outcome from each exercise.

    • Primary Plane

    • Primary Correction

    • Times and Reps

    • Ability

    • Flexibility

    • Degree of Difficulty

    • Description

    • Contra-indications

  • The following components of this eCourse covers all 400+ exercises in the AlignSmart™ database. These exercises shall be presented to you by planes, then families (120) alphabetically within each plane, broken into sections to give you the best opportunity to learn. At the end of each section, there will be a quiz, and then an exam after each plane lesson is completed, followed by one final knowledge exam at the end of this eCourse.

The exercises are presented alphabetically because each exercise is titled the same for each correction it makes. The only difference is in the exercise position, which is the section we recommend you study the most. Once you understand each position, exercise, and factors, learning the exercises should be relatively easy and easy to use and apply.

  • 100+ exercises to correct misalignments in the transverse plan.

  • 120+ exercises to correct misalignments in the frontal plan.

  • 160+ exercises to correct misalignments in the sagittal plan.

  • In this section you will be introduced to the software that will aid you in the implementation of the AlignSmart™ corrective exercises. The course includes a free 1 month registration into Level 2 of the app. You’ll be guided with “How to” videos in this section of the course.

  • Pass the exam and get your certificate to become a Symmetry Technician.

Symmetry’s AlignSmart™ system is the best investment I have ever made for my practice. I have been using it for over 10 years now, and have seen the evolution of this method. You will not be disappointed.
— Gina Albanese, L.Ac., SCAP (Acunpuncturist)
Adding the Symmetry AlignSmart™ programming is invaluable and exactly what I needed for my clients and for my business. Without question, this should be a modality in every form of therapy and training that exists.
— Karyn Tammaro, CSAP (Personal Trainer)
Corrective exercise is vital to have in your practice as a massage therapist. We can work on the patterns, but Symmetry teaches your clients to keep working on themeselves, to keep the healing process always evolving.
— Kate Fox, CMT, CLMA (Massage Therapist)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Symmetry’s secret sauce lies with this fundamental formula: Whatever plane the vertical body is statically deviating (misaligned) away from, it will compromise the movement within that plane dynamically. Therefore, this deviation can only be corrected by choosing isometric exercises that address the imbalanced intrinsic muscles that work within that plane in order to reestablish homeostasis. In other words, if one shows an elevated hip, which is a deviation away from the transverse plane, then choosing exercises that work in that plane (rotational) is the only way to rebalance them and level out the hips in this example.

  • Your certification will train you to recommend corrective exercises to improve posture, balance and coordination. Oftentimes, reducing structural misalignments can lead to reducing chronic pain and injuries for clients.

  • You will have 12 months to complete the course but most of our students complete this course in less than 2 months.

  • We also offer certification as a Symmetry Practitioner (measuring posture) and as an Advanced Symmetry Practitioner (complex cases). Further we offer Applied Training at all levels both online and in-person. You can see all of our courses here: https://certify.symmetryalignsmart.com/courses
